Ingenuity has flown!
On Monday, April 19th, 2021, at 6:46 A.M. EDT, news of the first powered flight on another planet was received. During this flight, the Ingenuity Helicopter went up only a few meters, and then back down. The small Ingenuity helicopter landed with Perseverance in February of 2021.
Meanwhile, the Perseverance rover was about 65 meters away, documenting the entirety of this historic event.
